Molecular Structural Formula:

The benzyl alcohol, also named as phenyl carbinol, bentanol or a-hydoxytoluene, is a colorless liquid with a sharp burning taste and mild pleasant aromatic odor. Because of its polarity, low toxicity and low vapor pressure, it is widely used as solvent.
It is partially soluble in water, and completely miscible in alcohols and diethyl ether, benzene, methanol, chloroform, ethanol, ether and acetone. When heated to decomposition, the benzyl alcohol emits acrid smoke and fumes.
Benzyl alcohol is manufactured industrially from benzyl chloride and sodium carbonate.
Here in TallKee Chemical , we manufacture and supply a wide selection of available in high quality to satisfy different requirements from customers around the world.
Main Applications
Usually, the benzyl alcohol serves as a kind of general solvent for inks, paints, lacquers, and epoxy resin coatings. And because of its low volatility and low toxicity, it widely utilized as the solvent in lots of special applications, as well as a versatile co-solvent used in curing agent formulations for epoxy resins of coatings, flooring systems, adhesives, etc. Also, the benzyl alcohol is applied in photo developer systems, metal cleaning formulation, cosmetics, hair care products, as well as in pharmaceuticals, flavor and fragrance industries. In Nanotechnological industry, the benzyl alcohol serves as a dielectric solvent for the dielectrophoretic reconfiguration of nanowires.
In area of health care, it can be used as a bacteriostatic preservative at low concentration in intravenous medication, cosmetics and topical drugs.
