The benzyl acetate is also known as acetic acid, phenylmethy ester, 140-11-4, acetic acid, benzyl ester, benzyl ehanoate, phenylmethyl acetate, benzyl ester. It is a kind of colorless transparent liquid with pleasant sweet aroma reminiscent of jasmine, and it ha bitter or pungent taste.
The benzyl acetate is partially soluble in water, ,miscible with alcohol, ether, ethanol, and soluble in ethyl ether and acetone, benzene and chloroform. And when heated to decomposition, it emits irritating fumes.

Main Applications:
Due to its pleasant sweet aroma reminiscent of jasmine, the benzyl acetate is widely used in perfumery, cosmetics, and flavorings to impart apple and pear flavors. Also, it’s one of many compounds that can attract orchid bees in different species, so the benzyl acetate is utilized as bait to attract and collect these bees for study.Moreover, it can also be used as a solvent in plastics and resin, cellulose acetate, nitrate, oils, lacquers, polishes and inks.
